The moments I am most proud of in 2021

01/ As a person who was afraid of water, I learned to swim successfully through self-learning
based on problem-solving thinking! Besides being a Product Designer, I'm so proud to announce that I'm also a junior swimmer!🏊‍♀️

02/ I remembered the Hawaiian state fish's name: "Humuhumu Nukunuku Apua'a"

How I switched to a Product Designer?

I faced the Miserable side of life,

I always solve struggled problems,

and never ever give up.

I've faced illness and the death of my close family members when I was very young. Especially when I just graduated from my undergrad school, my grandma, who has brought me up, was getting sick badly. In 2014 - 2015, I must give up my work in the company to take care of my grandmother. Meanwhile, I found that I was not the only one who was suffering from illness and sadness. Many people are struggling with a miserable life. They need help!

At that time, I was a jewelry designer who focused on the perfect side of the world and precious materials. Nursing, my grandmother, let me see the opposite side of this world -  Misery, pain, sadness, and helplessness. I felt so sad and guilty that I didn't have the superpower to help those people. Life is tough, but how could I help? How could I use my design skill to help more people?

Because of this suffering experience, I started to change my career path and think about helping more people with my design skills.

Fortunately, in 2015, I had a chance to engage in App development as a UI Designer. When I explored this brand new area, I found a design job that could help people solve their problems!

Therefore, I came to the US to study in grad school for User experience design and Human-Computer Interactions.

In these five years, I learned the design and research methods, learned the coding skills, and worked in real companies and solved real-world problems! Although developing a new career is not easy, I never give up and still solve the problems I faced.

Until 2020,  I grew up as an end to end product designer who could handle the process from user research to user testing and iterations! In the future, I could have chances to solve more complex problems and build more effective products to help users!
